On the afternoon of the 4th of July, Deputy Premier of the State Council, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) central committees, Ding Xexiang, held the fourth China-EU High-Level Environmental and Climate Dialogue with the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, in Beijing.

He states that this April, President Xi Jinping met with Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, reaching a broad consensus on topics such as deepening the green partnership. Ding Xexiang expressed the need to implement the important consensus of the two leaders effectively. He emphasized the importance of advancing China-EU environmental and climate cooperation to achieve more results and contributing significantly to global sustainable development.

Ding Xexiang highlighted China's strong commitment to environmental protection and climate change efforts, emphasizing the unwavering push towards green and low-carbon development. China has already initiated a series of significant measures to ensure the timely realization of carbon peak and Carbon neutrality goals. China is willing to work with the European side to enhance the role of the China-EU High-Level Environmental and Climate Dialogue mechanism, including reaching more consensus, building mutual trust, expanding and enriching cooperation, creating more opportunities for the development of China-EU relations, The focus is on deepening practical cooperation in key areas, including exploring the potential for cooperation in renewable energy, green and low-carbon technologies, carbon markets, climate adaptation, and environmental protection. The goal is to establish additional sectors of collaborative growth. Both sides will jointly advance multilateral processes related to the environment and climate, adhere to genuine multilateralism, promote the success of the 28th Conference of the Parties to “United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change”, and effectively implement the outcomes of the 15th Conference of the Parties to “Convention on Biological Diversity”. The aim is to collaborate in building a shared global ecosystem.

Executive Vice-President, Frans Timmermans stated that the EU and China play essential roles in global climate change response. The EU is willing to deepen cooperation with China in areas such as climate change, circular economy, and biodiversity conservation to lead global environmental and climate governance.
