The First Session
On June 17, 2013, as an important part of the National Low Carbon Day activities, the “First Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum” grandly opened in Shenzhen International Low Carbon City. With the theme of “Low Carbon Development - Exploring the Road of New Urbanization”, the forum brought together experts in low carbon industry and low carbon city construction from more than 10 countries to exchange the latest progress in the field of low carbon at home and abroad, in order to seek a new mechanism of low carbon development and explore the new road of low carbon development in the context of new urbanization.
Xie Zhenhua, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Xu Shaohua, member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and executive vice governor of Guangdong Province, Su Wei, director of the Department of Climate Change, NDRC, and Lv Ruifeng, member of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee and executive vice mayor of the municipal government of Shenzhen, unveiled the official launch of Shenzhen’s carbon trading.
On the afternoon of June 17, the first Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum held a signing ceremony for international cooperation, which was attended by Hugo Brouwer, Chairman of the Energy Transition Committee of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands, and leaders of the city and the district, including Tang Jie, Li Ganming and Xiong Guowei.
