The Shenzhen National Low-Carbon City Forum was held in Shenzhen from Sept. 22-23. This year’s theme is “Innovating for a Green Economy, Building a Zero-Carbon Future for Cities.” From industry leaders and financial institutions to scholars and young people, the forum explored one key question: How can cities move toward zero carbon?
Attending a subforum of Shenzhen National Low-Carbon City Forum, Xiao Chengwei, marketing director of Shenzhen Esin Technology, said the rapid growth of AI computing is bringing fundamental changes to data center infrastructure. Building green intelligent computing centers, he said, requires systematic optimization ranging from cooling and power supply to airflow management and computing equipment deployment.
For Liu Siyu, a lead scientist in the field of sustainable development at the Shenzhen Academy of Metrology & Quality Inspection, the answer starts with trust. “Only with credible data can companies understand their emissions, identify major sources and reduction potential, and set scientific carbon targets and effective pathways,” said Liu, who holds a Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
At the ESG subforum of the Shenzhen National Low-Carbon City Forum on Sept. 22, Hao Yuming, manager of the Operations Management Department (Board Office) of Shenzhen Airport Co., Ltd., said the airport is pursuing a low-carbon transition through life-cycle management, targeted emission reduction, digital technologies and regional collaboration.
During the 2026 Carbon Peaking & Carbon Neutrality Forum and Shenzhen National Low-Carbon City Forum, Wang Xionghui, chairman, founder and CEO of Shenzhen ORVIBO Technology Co. Ltd., delivered a speech at the Longgang Green and Low-Carbon New Municipal Development Forum. He said the “first half” of the energy transition has focused on where energy comes from, while the next challenge is making better use of the energy already available.
Recycling is becoming an increasingly important pillar of urban green and low-carbon transition. But for many companies, making this traditional industry more compliant, transparent and traceable remains a real challenge. At the green and low-carbon technology roadshow and project matchmaking session of the 2026 Shenzhen National Low Carbon City Forum, Wu Yongding, chairman of Fujian Zhonghuanbao Technology Co. Ltd., presented a integration solution for digital compliance of renewable resources and green supply chain. After the roadshow, he spoke with Shenzhen Daily about recycling and corporate green transition.
At the opening of the Shenzhen National Low-Carbon City Forum, Zhai Yongping, Senior Carbon Neutrality Strategy Advisor at Tencent’s Strategic Development Department and former Chief Energy Specialist at the Asian Development Bank, delivered a keynote speech on Tencent’s carbon-neutrality practices. In an interview, he said the green transition requires not only technological innovation, but also stronger coordination among capital, industry and policymakers to help early-stage technologies cross the hard time between the laboratory and the market.
