Themed on Shenzhen in Action of Green Low Carbon Development, the Shenzhen Time for China Pavilion at the Bonn Climate Conference was successfully held by the Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission in collaboration with the Shenzhen Research Center for Response to Climate Change, ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, Shenzhen Institute of Building Research Co., Ltd., C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group and iSoftStone on November 10. Eight Chinese and foreign guests presented an amazing event showcasing the experience and practices of Shenzhen in green low carbon development to the audience.
Yu Jing, Deputy Director of Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission made a speech titled Shenzhen's Practices of Green Low Carbon Development, sharing the efforts and results of Shenzhen in green low carbon development in recent years supported by detailed facts and typical cases. Yu Jing hoped that the Shenzhen Time for the China Pavilion could be a platform for communication among all experts and scholars present, to share their views without reservation and contribute their wisdom for green low carbon development of cities.
Maryke van Staden, Director of Low Carbon City Program and Carbon Center ICLEI made a speech titled ICLEI Green Climate Cities - Shenzhen Experience, outlining challenges brought about by climate change to cities on the global level, suggesting how cities could seize opportunities in response to climate change, and sharing experience of ICLEI in urban green low carbon development.
Brendan Shane, Regional Director for North America, C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, made a speech titled "Final Moment for 2020: Cities in Fulfilling Undertakings in Paris Agreement," sharing efforts and experience of C40 in urban green low carbon development and calling for keeping undertakings in Paris Agreement by all countries.
Wang Dong, Director of Shenzhen Research Center for Response to Climate Change, coordinated the dialogue of the guests. Zhang Xiaohua, Climate Change Project Manager of United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation expounded on the key role cities in facilitating south-south cooperation; Shu Zhu, Regional Director, ICLEI East Asia Secretariat underlined the importance of ecological protection from the perspectives of economic development and ecological protection in cities; Ye Qing, Chairperson of Shenzhen Institute of Building Research Co., Ltd. talked about how to formulate urban plans adapted to local conditions with examples of urban planning; Ye Zhusun, Vice President of iSoftStone explored the responsibility and role of enterprises in low carbon development from the perspective of enterprises.
