On afternoon of October 13, the 2017 Year Summary of the Clear Your Plate Campaign and Kengqiang Microphone Live Show was held in the buffet hall on the first floor of Futian Shangri-La. Officials of the Shenzhen Municipal Domestic Waste Sorting Management Center and the Pioneer 898 News Frequency presented plaques to brand alliance members of the campaign, summarized the performance and results of the campaign in the past year, and explained the latest progress in domestic waste sorting and reduction. The Clear Your Plate Campaign has been highly recognized by deputies to the Municipal People's Congress and the CPPCC members of the city for its remarkable performance.
The 2017 Year Summary of the Clear Your Plate Campaign was co-hosted by the Shenzhen Municipal Urban Management Bureau and Shenzhen Media Group, and co-organized by the Pioneer 898 News Frequency and the Shenzhen Municipal Domestic Waste Sorting Management Center, being the second session of the campaign. The Clear Your Plate Campaign is intended to encourage citizens to eat their food up whether at home or at restaurants, or take any leftover home to avoid waste of food and reduce kitchen wastes from the source.
The 2016 campaign worked with restaurant to provide special offer dishes, clear plates at home, try dishes for clearing 60 catering brands, more than 100 catering enterprises and many families. Compared with the 2016 session, this campaign this year organized more activities in more innovative forms, covering more people and generating better publicity, with the focus shifted from catering businesses to attracting more citizens to participate.
From July this year, the organizer has designated the 19th day each month as the Clear Plate Day, on which the organizer has worked with more than 30 catering enterprises including Tanchu Xiaocai and Nishimura Restaurant to offer discounts to the public and listeners in addition to activities in the previous year. The organizer has also resigned a small interactive game "Clear Plate and Win Red Envelopes" on WeChat, to mobilize more citizen to the game and participate in the campaign.
Statistics show that nearly 110,000 people participated in the first three phases of the "Clear Plate and Win Red Envelopes" game, with 680,000 clicks. The fourth phase of the game was open for a longer period from October 10 to 13.

The Clear Your Plate Campaign is intended to encourage citizens to eat their food up whether at home or at restaurants, or take any leftover home to avoid waste of food, reduce kitchen wastes and protect the ecology. The two sessions of the campaign in Shenzhen have improved the social trend, boosted social progress, and generated a positive force for modern social civilization in beating bad habits, which has given a lot for us to reflection upon.
Firstly, it upholds the traditional virtue of the Chinese people for cherishing and saving resources. Through we are not bothered by shortage of food after years of economic development, we should still consume only what we need, contribute to the livelihood of people around the world and make sustainable development a value of the public in modern society.
Secondly, it helps reduce domestic waste at the source, and thus remarkably reduce the pressure of wastes on environmental protection. According to statistics, kitchen wastes account for over 50% of modern domestic wastes, and cause enormous work for waste sorting, leading to increase in rear-end economic and ecological costs for harmless treatment. Therefore, promotion of moderate consumption of meals will effectively reduce unnecessary consumption and reduce domestic wastes at the source.

In order to further promote the Clear Your Plate Campaign, the following recommendations have been proposed: firstly, summarize the campaign in last two years to develop continuously run mechanisms in terms of activity organization, execution, promotion and etc. to improve the campaign's performance; secondly, better leverage the resources of social organizations in promotion and execution, to engage the public and gain their recognition; thirdly, incorporate the clear plate idea in the existing and coming unattended restaurants based on big data, to combine the civilization with the information era perfectly, because we hope to reduce wastes and advocate of civilization through the Clear Your Plate campaign.
